LOCKDOWN FUNDING - THE DETAILS

UPDATE ON LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND FUNDING

I have been informed today that Brighton and Hove City Council are intending to launch their portals for the next round of lockdown grant funding today.

You can look at the details and eligibility HERE

BE PREPARED

Remember that, as is often the case with these webforms, you will not be able to start, save and come back to it later so make sure you have ALL THE INFORMATION YOU NEED ready to go before you start the application.

Businesses closed from 5 November to 2 December may be eligible for a grant of up to £3,000 for that period.

Small businesses that pay businesses rates can make a claim. The amount will depend on the rateable value of the property:

  • £1,334 for businesses in properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or under

  • £2,000 for properties with a rateable value of between £15,000 and up to £51,000

  • £3,000 for properties with a rateable value of £51,000 or over

Brighton & Hove has been allocated £7.3 million from the government’s Local Restrictions Support Grant.

The council will make the payments and businesses will not have to pay back the grant.

How to apply

The application process will open in a few days. A link to the secure online form will be published on this website. Once businesses have completed and submitted the form, they will receive an acknowledgement and estimated timeframe for when their claim will be processed and, if successful, paid.

Additional restrictions grant

Businesses who are not eligible for the local restrictions support grants may be able to apply for a discretionary grant. The council will receive a one-off payment of around £5.8 million covering two financial years as an additional government grant for discretionary payments and can decide how it is spent.

The principles for allocation of these grants were agreed by councillors at the Policy & Resources Recovery Sub-Committee on 13 November.
